Diet Plans
Many websites offer a range of diet plans, which
focus on one aspect of a diet, such as low-fat,
low carb or GL, or low-sugar, and many dieters
say that they've tried them all and either they
couldn't stick to the diet, or they put the
weight that they lost back on again. However,
the diet industry is likely to present 'success'
stories of people who've lost weight on each
type of diet plan - but they don't usually state
whether the dieters have managed to maintain
their weight-loss after they've stopped paying
to use the on-line diet plans or support
service.
Anybody who wants a driving licence expects an
instructor to provide a course of lessons that
will enable them to pass a test and drive a car
on their own. They don't expect the instructor
to provide them with 'personalised' instructions
for every car journey that they want to make,
and be available to answer 'phone calls if they
approach a big road junction that they've not
seen before! Driving instructors teach their
pupils the basic principles of driving, and the
pupils have to apply those principles to all the
different road situations that they come across.
A similar approach is needed to ensure that
anybody wanting to lose weight can learn to
create their own healthy diet, rather than being
dependent on on-line diet plans and support
services.
A lot of dieters 'jump' from one website to
another, reading many bits of information, but
not really learning anything - and indeed many
diet websites contain a high proportion of
'glossy' images, but information doesn't tend to
be presented in an educational format. Other
types of websites can be very informative, but
aren't very practical. The aim of this website
is to be both educational and practical, but in
order to be beneficial, the guidelines and
suggestions for what to eat at different times
of the day need to be read carefully, until
choosing what to eat and drink becomes
second-nature. Gaining real knowledge of the
principles of a balanced diet can remove the
stress which is often associated with losing
weight, and keeping it off. Following a diet
plan may seem an easier option, but it isn't a
life-long option is it?
